Finally Out: REAL TIME [Reinhold Friedl & Dirk Dresselhaus] on BLUME.
3CD-Box with intense duo-soundworks by Dirk Dresselhaus aka Schneider TM and Reinhold Friedl, minimalistic & overwhelming !
*** Rigid box containing 3 CDs with printed plastic dividers ***
Reinhold Friedl (zeitkratzer Ensemble) and Dirk Dresselhaus (Angel, Schneider TM) smack us sideways with this stunning 3CD boxset for Die Schachtel’s promising new sub-label, Blume. Approaching from divergent angles – Friedl uses entirely acoustic instrumentation, Dresselhaus uses electronics – they shape a mass of impurified prepared piano and sheet metal drones driven thru oscillators, spring reverb, modulators and pitch shifters to breathtaking effect. We’ve become very familiar with Friedl’s amazing solo LP, ‘Inside Piano’ over the last few years, and equally return to Dresselhaus’ Angel albums with Pan Sonic’s Ilpo Väisänen on a regular basis, and can safely say that this surpasses either project in terms of scale, focus and impact. Honestly, if you trust us or your instincts, this is an unmissable set for followers of heavy avant-garde noise composition. Can’t wait to fully immerse in this one…
Schneider TM – Guitar Sounds – out now
LP / CD available at: Bureau B
GUITAR SOUNDS is a sonic exploration of the electric guitar and the 2nd part of Schneider TM’s ‘SOUNDS’ album series which started out in 2012 with the release of Construction Sounds on the hamburgarian Label Bureau B. This MWM download version contains the exclusive bonus track TEMPELHOF!
“‘Guitar Sounds’ is a brilliant experimental guitar album; its fine solos are a self-contained world of clang, scrape, and buzz. However, this is not just a micro-study of guitar capabilities; it evokes a range of emotions too: bliss, foreboding, a poignant awe. This is an album generated spontaneously in the moment but worthy of lasting study and reflection.”
“If you thought Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music was tricky, throw your ears into this audio maelstrom. I imagine if Reed, Glenn Philips, Lee Ranaldo, Karlheinz Stockhausen and My Bloody Valentine teamed up to make a charity single, this could be the result – an uncompromising soundtrack to someone handing over a small fortune just to make it stop. Superb stuff.”
“Das aufreizend treffend betitelte Album Guitar Sounds des Ex-Bielefelder Ex-Indierockers Schneider TM etabliert eine weitere Kategorie: eine, bei der die onanistische Stromgitarre dekonstruiert, nämlich gar nicht erst als führendes Instrument eingesetzt wird, sondern der Klangentbindung dient.”

MR SCHMUCK’S FARM (Hildur Gudnadottir & Schneider TM) – GOOD SOUND – from 2005 is now available as download :
CD available at: Oral Records
Hildur & Schneider met in 2004 in Berlin’s partyzone and found out they were both living in the same neighbourhood. Soon the idea came up to do some music together. One fine day Hildur came over to Schneider’s house/studio and brought her cello. Before they even started talking or drinking coffee, the track my favourite caucus airchamber was recorded. After that they met occasionally to play some game of bowls in the park or have one or two drinks together. A couple of weeks later the second track inspired by a common love of Sun Ra music (don’t give up, what is death?) was recorded just like the first one…but this time she also brought her zither, accordion and saw…. no talking, no specific ideas, no direction: just Hildur playing over and over the acoustic instruments and Schneider processing them live on his mixing-desk. A couple of weeks later Hildur moved back to Iceland to finish her electro acoustic studies and Schneider visited some jail to work on German gangster-rap with some prisoners. When Hildur came back to Berlin to join Angel for their drone-set in October 2004 at Club Transmediale, the time was right to record the track not all crows are black. Then, one afternoon, the Schmucks appeared at Schneider’s studio, but this is another story…
