TUESDAY WELD / SCHNEIDER TM UND STATION 17

Ladies and Gentlemen,

two bits of exciting news for you.

First of all, we proudly present you the MWM digital re-release of Tuesday Weld`s debut album (Herself).

Tuesday Weld (Herself) (MirrorWorldMusic 320kbit Re-Release)

(1996, co released by Supermodern and Dhyana. Physical format available via Supermodern)

Tuesday Weld`s debut album which merges influences ranging from classic Indie rock to Kraut rock, lo-fi and almost dadaesque shenanigans. Recorded by bunch of mentaly deranged southerners at a time when playing guitars wasn`t the coolest thing on the planet to do. They thought they were too late but time would prove them wrong………they were too early.

The full album comes with a “vintage” scan of the original digi pack style cover.

Station 17 : Goldstein Variationen

Secondly, in June there will be a co-op release of the 3rd instalment of The Goldstein Variationen. We were invited up to Hamburg to record with the diasbled persons musicians collective Station 17. We jammed for 2 days and the results were then made into “versions” (a Schneider TM track and a kptmichigan remix of said track). 17records will release the physical format (a 12″ which will come with amazing artwork by the Frankfurt based disabled persons artist collective Atelier Goldstein) which will also contain a song by Ted Geier and Station 17 and we`ll be doing the digital version and we`re working on a very special feature for that release. More news on that when we now how…….

MR: SCHMUCK`S FARM : GOOD SOUND AVAILABLE NOW

Ladies and Gentlemen,

we proudly present the MWM digital re-release of Good Sound by Mr. Schmuck`s Farm (originally released in 2005 on Oral)

Mr. Schmuck’s Farm

Hildur Gudnadottir and Dirk Dresselhaus met each other at Club Transmediale 2004 in Berlin and started to hang out, party, play boccia and record improv-sessions at Dirk’s Constructionsite Studios. They found out that the combination of Hildur’s skills on acoustic instruments (cello, zither, saw, accordion etc.) and Dirk’s ways of electronic manipulation (effect-feedbacks, realtime sampling, modular system, filtering etc.) offers a foundation for deep musical communication and organic soundworlds, that are freefloating, time-transcending and morphable in many different sonic directions.
It doesn’t seem far that Mr. Schmuck’s Farm’s sound already inspired dance-/theater-pieces and that it was used as the score in various motion pictures.
In late 2007 they played their first live performance at Volksbühne, Berlin, opening for Pan sonic & Keiji Haino.

Good Sound

The result of the first three recordings is Mr. Schmuck’s Farm’s debut album ‚Good Sound’, which was released in 2005 on Eric Mattson’s canadian label Oral. The wide range of the pieces reaches from harmonical influences of balkan music, gentle/harsh feedbacks combined with organic/mechanical structures to pure electricity, triggered by wood and steel…all elements influencing each other. This music was created by only following the sound, not by any preconceptional ideas.

This is what Mark Barton of Losingtoday had to say about it :

Here you’ll find a bulging bag of gems with treats for all the family - disconcerting sleepy pop (‘do you want one of these?’), chattering celestial abstract folk pop (as though Animal Collective where on a sabbatical with Sunburned Hand of the Man – ‘Like a Rolling Drone’), psychotropic pop hypnosis (the Sonic Boom homage of the mesmeric mantra ‘Bulgarian Death Drone’ or the gem like lysergic Spacemen 3 psyche blues on the closing ‘This year round there ain’t gonna be no summer’). From the minute the free wheeling abstract off kilter Fall-esque opener ‘Theme from Captain Carrot’ and the curious off balance lazy eyed freak beating wash of ‘Hey Mr Rambler’ veer into view you are immediately put on alert that a strange brew is at work, the haphazard pop matrix is bludgeoned by a wilful sense of black humour that brings with it a decidedly crooked foot print to the proceedings and yet for all that when they do settle down drunken nuggets like ‘Sunday groovy Sunday’ (or the Beefheart meets Zappa meets Zorn curiosity ‘Da Blues’) warm the listening space with an unusual candour that’s both alluring and likewise puzzling. Hand up the back pistol to the head I‘d have to opt for ‘Out comes the sunshine’ as the albums most indicative moment a sly slice of idly ambling pop that mid way through is ripped apart sonic autopsy style leaving both your hi-fi and head shredded from the experience.

And this is what it`s all about…………..

kalmukia.jpgSHORT NOTATIONS OF THE KALMUKIA PLAN

On 17th of May we enter a place in Kalmukia, which is only 30-40 kilometres away from the river Volga. Locals guide us to the zone where the discovery is supposed to be, but as we come close enough, they turn back. We enter the zone and start to feel the effects immediately, but we continue like planned. We start the calculations and measurements. We make the plan for the wiring but the invasion has already started. When we enter the place it has an odd effect on us. The locals know about it and call it ‚blissfull death’. One of us gets the symptoms right away: hyperactive talking, all information coming out in one moment, continuous ejaculation or ovulation, a feeling of endless bliss before sudden death. To avoid these symptoms we have to eat sturgeon eggs. We start to build the construction like it was shown in our dreams and place the tetra-shaped device above the core. Something goes wrong, the alarm starts and a catastrophy happens.

Before and after the catastrophy we find these extremely peculiar creatures that live in the harbours of the caspian sea, where the pollution is strong and the oil is thickest. They are formations of sturgeon, identical in shape and form. The head and organs are mutated by the influence of the discovery. This creature is extremely defensive and violent towards those who threaten. The locals call them ‚the tank-parasites’. They suck oil and polluted water, filtering them to then weep out organic material from their backs. After researching their breeding-methods, we concluded that the eggs have a 100% chance of survival and after researching their intelligence, we knew that this creature would be the next dominating species on our planet.

Schneider TM und Lustfaust 7″ available now

Schneider Lustfaust
This is MWM001, the first release on Dirk Dresselhaus` (aka Schneider TM) and Michael Beckett`s (aka kptmichigan) label MirrorWorldMusic.
The 7“ is a collaboration* between Schneider TM and the long missed Peter Kruger, vocalist of the amazing and more or less forgotten Berlin based Lustfaust (1976 – 1981).
The cover was designed by Mick Larkin who was responsible for a series of Lustfaust tape covers in the late 70`s.

The A side “The girl who cried all the tears from her body”

The 7“ starts off with The girl who cried all the tears from her body which could more or less be termed power ambient.
if that didn`t sound so crap.
A fuzzed out micro molecular (there is sooo much going on there) organic drone rides ontop of a bass heavy pulse (not beat). All in all a very beautiful and oceanic scene for Kruger`s stream of conciousness, completely weirded out but super melodic vocal style.

The AA side “Sweet Divorcee”

Sweet Divorcee is somewhat more conventional. This time around Kruger sings a killer melody (something about coq au vin and sex) over a slighty glitchy almost rock`n`roll stomp.
Backwards guitars, backwards Balafon, forwards Rhodes and a defiantly forwards beat are the backdrop for Kruger`s amazingly intricate and show stealing vocals which seem to be interwoven with something which isn`t actually audible.
Quite uptempo and definately psychedelic.

* Dresselhaus and Beckett met Kruger in early 2003 in Omaha whilst on tour in the U.S.A. supporting The Faint. Kruger, who now lives in Omaha with his wife, had helped Saddle Creek on various occasions in the legal department. The boys get talking and decide to have a smoke and a drink in the TM tourmobile (aka Zion Train) whilst cranking some King Tubby. Schneider TM headed off to the next show and Dirk remained in contact with Kruger (allthough very irregularly) via e-mail. Only when Schneider TM played the I.C.A. in London early 2006 did they actually get to hear Lustfaust for the first time. There they saw and heard Jamie Shovlin`s Beck`s Futures nomination, which it turns out was a retrospective of Lustfaust`s work. A painstakingly pieced together exhibition incuding posters, photos, tape covers etc.etc.

When they got home Dirk and Michael still couldn`t believe how unbelievably good the music was which they had heard at the exhibition and checked out the Lustfaust homepage to listen to some of the music. To their disbelief, there was no Peter Kruger to be heard (for some strange legal reasons) but the music was quite something else. Schneider TM had been thinking about doing collaborations quite a lot over the last few months and thought they should drop Kruger a line. To their surprise he was imediately into the idea but unfortunately, due to the vast amount of miles seperating them they couldn`t work together and Kruger at to do his part at home in Omaha.

And by god were Dirk and Michael surpised and very much excited by what Kruger had managed to pull off.
